Summer Reading Series
Fahrenheit 451 – June 28 at 2:00 pm
Nearly seventy years after its original publication, Ray Bradbury’s internationally acclaimed novel, Fahrenheit 451, stands as a classic of world literature set in a bleak, dystopian future. Today its message has grown more relevant than ever before. In our especially constructed reading of the theatrical script Bradbury himself wrote, come and learn about Guy Montag, a 10 year civil servant, whose job was burning books and who lately has become more and more unsure about his vegetable-like existence. Listen to Clarisse and Faber and the “Book Voices” who are all filled with strange but compelling ideas which Guy finds hard to resist. Hear how Guys’s wife, Mildred, and her friends try to encourage Guy to stay “on the right path”. Finally, watch and hear Guy struggle to find his way from a non-existent existence to a path where risking everything gives him the right to think.
